Blessed Assurance!

Tonight, let's talk Salvation. What is the basis of our salvation? Faith!
Those with false assurance are in trouble. However, those who are saved and doubt are not as effective believers as they could be.
Truths about Salvation 1. God wants people to be saved 2. God communicates very plainly in His word that we need salvation and the means for salvation We want EVERYTHING our way. We are born selfish and with a groaning heart. We are born with a sin problem. We need the Lord Jesus Christ to redeem us and cleanse us from all the filthy sins we've committed. We all want to go to heaven. That is not the question. The question is do we truly desire to KNOW and LOVE Jesus. If we KNOW Him and LOVE Him we would obey Him the scriptures say. 3. God speaks to us and convicts us through the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit convicts us of three things 1. Sin Sin is a personal offense against God 2. Righteousness Only God is truly good. The standard for good in God's eyes is perfection 3. Judgement The Holy Spirit convicts us of pending judgement There is no other means of salvation Salvation is not earned. We earned hell. By, through, unto By grace, through faith, His grace unto us that we do good works Jesus shines a huge spot light on Salvation 1. Mere profession does not equal possession of salvation 2. We do not work for our salvation, but we do have a salvation that works 3. Our salvation must be built on Jesus
Passage for tonight:
““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" Matthew 7:21-23 NIV
