Breathing is Vitally important...Prayer is even more!

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." - JOHN 15:5

I hope that you’re encouraged this morning, full of the love of Jesus, ready to face the day and week before you with joy!

I’m sure you have many things to think about and organize today, especially because Christmas is less than a week away from today! However, I’m sure that there’s one thing you didn’t write down on your to-do list, without which you can’t do anything else… Breathe!

This vitally important action happens without any reflection or deep decision making on your part. Yet, you have a fundamental and natural need to continuously breathe. A human being has about 20,000 respiratory cycles each day… Inhaling, exhaling. Fortunately, you don’t need to think about each breath. You don’t plan to breathe… You just do it.

In the same way, prayer, communication, and communion with God is indispensable for a balanced spiritual life. Taking the time each day to speak with God and receive His counsel and encouragement is essential. It’s what I do each morning, before even getting out of bed… I turn my thoughts to the Lord… His greatness, His goodness, His kindness, His love, etc. I breathe in and I breathe out. I receive His life and give Him mine.

Abiding and communication with God is what keeps you “alive” every day. It’s absolutely vital. I invite you to make it more than a habit… And make it a lifestyle. In time, speaking with God and seeking His counsel will become as natural as breathing to you!
